Last Thursday of the Month - May

It's literally been years since I played this game; here we go:

Current Scent: There's a honeysuckle candle burning in the other room. It reminds me of my sister, she used to wear that perfume years and years ago!
What I am reading: Richard Russo's Empire Falls. It takes place in Maine.
Newest Music: I've been mixing and matching, and my favorite song right now is Annie Lennox's version of I've Got A Spell On You
Movie I saw: .. this is embarrassing .. I don't remember the name! Something old on cable!
Something Yummy: Have you had shredded unsweetened coconut? Great snack!
The Last Place I ate: I had to admit this .. Ground Round for lunch
Something that made me cry: Last week, a conversation that made my insecurities come screeching out
Something that made me laugh: It must have been this past weekend when we were camping
Something I look forward to in June: I am hoping for summer weather, warmth and sunshine
Something I want to remember from May: Bruce turned 10. It's been a year since I've seen my girl
Something I am thankful for: Always aside from the health of my kids .. I am thankful for my job

Sunday Stealing Meme ..

My roommate and I once:  okay, okay … not once …would go to Ground Round on Thursday nights and order wings and beer

High school was:  Great! Especially my junior year..

When I’m nervous:  I nibble continuously

My hair:  Is getting more gray by the month ..d*mn teenagers!!!

When I was 5:  We were living in Iran

When I turn my head left:  I can’t see the Celtics play

I should be: going to sleep … I’m exhausted .. and 4:15am comes early!

By this time next year:   I’ll be looking at my son, finishing his junior year ...  I hope my heart will be in a better place.

My favorite  aunt is:  aunt?? My kids have aunts!!

I have a hard time understanding:  why I don’t get the summer off … the teenagers do …

You know I like you if:   IF??  what a bad sentence .. I choose not to participate!!  haha

My ideal breakfast is:  Coffee … sweet sticky buns, brunch pizza …. oh the list can go on. I love breakfast! (mmm sausage drizzled with maple syrup…. ohh, Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and cream ….) .. (taco..chorizo and egg)

If you visit my home town:  Well… I’m a nomad! We moved every 3-4 years .. so I don’t have a home town .. I consider where I live now as home ..

If you spend the night at my house:  You will listen to Tyson talking up a storm at 4 am ..

The animal I would like to see flying besides birds:  Pigs

I shouldn’t have been:  so easy

Last night I:  listened to my daughter’s phone conversation … she was talking very loud .. i wasn’t sneaky about it.

A better name for me would be: Sap … it’s written on my forehead!

I’ve been told I look like:  My dad … but someone pointed out from a picture I had of my mom, that I look like her ..

If I could have any car, it would be:  Nissan 350 Z (Although I just noticed the 370 Z ….. sweet!!)

 So .. who is watching the World Cup?? Who allows a game at 7:30AM .. Monday morning Holland plays .. and I won’t be able to watch it … grr!

Day 3 of NaBloMoPo .. Thursday 13!

So .. today at work I had to assist a patient with his eyes … my first thought was ‘hmmm kind of cute..’ but then when I had to look at his date of birth, and realized he was as old as  less than   half my age, in a fairly big way … I  quickly moved on! One of the other ladies recognized his cute looks .. so we giggled, and she accused me of being a cougar! uhh not just no, but H*ll NO!…. I will never, ever .. ever.. ever never want a younger male as a potential suitor.  So, she and I discussed what the needs would be for any man to be appealing!! Hence my T13 …. hahhaa … let’s have some fun! …. and .. if you want to play along, click HERE!

1. In Suzy’s words … “money … and one leg in the grave…. oh and money! (okay .. those were her criteria’s not mine!!)
2. First and foremost he has to be athletic .. preferably a runner. Nothing is sexier than a pair of runner legs! (Although at some of the races I have been .. I noticed the men there are really crunchy .. ugh … not that type of runner! More like the Peyton Manning runner … mmm)
3. Must be older than me .. starting at about 2 years and up, maxing out at 10 yrs older.
4. If he has to have children … the youngest must be older than my youngest.
5. someone told me once that I should find someone who is willing to put his ego aside .. and actually be happy to say “yes dear…” and really mean it ….. hahaha .. is there such a person?! Honestly, I don’t know what I would do with that .. I have never met a man like that … oh wait, that isn’t part of my list!!
6. Oh … did I mention that the man MUST BE not committed to anyone else … not even separated …  Totally Divorced, Widowed or Single … (Lately the men that are chatting with me fail to mention that they have a significant other ..AND they don’t wear a wedding band … what is up with that?!??!?)
7. Tall … not too tall, not too short! I want to be able to wear my heels and not worry!
8. Along with athletic … needs to love outdoors… kayaking … hiking … walking … love long walks on the beach … hahahaha!
9. Must like to watch football, Peyton in particular! (and not feel insecure when I am wiping my drool off my chin … oh, does that mean #5 is in effect?!?)
10. Must love dogs! Bruce is going to be in my house for a while longer … I need to know that I won’t be judged by my crazy @ss dog … (oh, and my needy cats who have decided that 4 am is a perfectly good time to have a conversation…)
11. working …
12. traveler … I want to go to Australia in a few years and just hang out with my cousin …..(here are those wicked thoughts: ….3 more years!)
13. Last but not least ……. patient … after all, I am staying focused on my teenagers for right now. I only have a few more years with them and then  .. Their needs  will come before anyone else.

Thursday 13 - Something different ..

So for Thursday 13, I cheated a little and combined two things .. I saw this meme from one of my favorite bloggers, thank you Susie! Luckily she had 13 items …  and since it was 13, it would be good enough for T13. Click here if you want to play!

Outside My Window..  is the main road, and all sorts of traffic drives by. At 4:15am I also try and look through the blinds to see if the sun has risen so that I can run outside instead of going to the gym. (note to self: the sun doesn’t rise at 4:15!!)

I am thankful for… so much.. always the basics.. my health..my teenagers.. my job .. my girlie friends .. and right now, I am ever so grateful for chaos to help quiet my sad heart.

From the kitchen… I have my coffee ready for brewing in the morning …. 3 large onions chopped, spices mixed .. all we need to do is open the cans of crushed tomatoes to make a great marinara sauce.

I am wearing…gray striped socks. gap jeans, my old faithful pink long sleeved old navy t-shirt .. detailed enough?

I am creating... a new sense of life… in the last year so much has changed ..(h*ll, in the last four years everything has changed…) I am looking for a purpose .. life shouldn’t just be about getting up in the morning, going to work and coming home ..

I am going… to run a trail race on Saturday .. my first one ever! Then hopefully next Saturday will be a 10k road race …

I am reading… cooking light! I want to eat healthier and more exciting.

I am hoping... that the stupid 6 pounds I have gained in the last month will soon disappear. Yes … SIX pounds!! SIX! I am being very behaved right now and not telling you what I yelled said at to the scale in the gym.

I am hearing…the loud purring from Tyson ..

Around the house… things are looking bare! I have most of my boxes unpacked .. but I lack furniture, so the house still looks empty.

One of my favorite things… My Canon Rebel .. I am so ready to take classes again, and take time for photo opportunities.. weekends away ..

Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… just staying busy .. get ready for the trail run.. have meals ready .. you know, the usual “mom” things!

Tyson ..

Here is the newest member .. this was taken last week .. he had been hiding on top of the kitchen cabinets. Seven days later he has adapted quite well ..

Say it isn’t so!

This morning my cat knocked over the mirror .. it shattered! My loving daughter exclaimed “Mom! Now you’re going to have bad luck!” Say it isn’t so!!! What is counter active remedy for broken mirrors? I googled it, but all that popped up was remedies for cold sores! Ya, don’t need that … thank goodness!

A day off ..

Today was the first day off in a very long time. Yes, in my old job I worked from home .. but I had this guilt thing going on when I was away from my laptop for more than an hour.

My highlight of the day was officially registering in the town .. I am back to being a resident in the town I live .. woohoo!! Very exciting! We had moved four years ago, and it was probably one of my biggest regrets …  but at the time, I thought it was the right thing to do .. but now were back! Next week I’ll have to change over my driver’s license and then it’ll all be done.

Also, today we welcomed a new family member .. Tyson the 16 pound cat. I met Tyson this past Saturday at the local hardware store .. I started talking to his owner and she mentioned that she was looking for a home for him … well, I’m a sucker when it comes to sad pet stories …. so I volunteered our house. Kit the cat is pretty upset with me, Bruce the Golden is pleased as punch.. a new toy to play with .. I’m not sure what I was thinking! I had been adamant that once Kit and Bruce were gone .. I was done .. hmm

I’ll get a picture posted soon .. Tyson is hiding under the bed, Kit is growling around the bed .. I think I am in for an interesting night.
